Error when connecting to a server

I am running the VNC server on a windows 2000 pro machine. When I try to connect to it via the vnc viewer from another pc, after I type in the password, I see the remote pc's screen for 1 second and then it disappears.

I am connecting to other pc's without any issues but this one is not working. I have reinstalled the vnc software and the problem remains. It is not a bad password because if I enter a bad password I get a connection failed message as I would expect.

Any help is appreciated.
