What is a 'display name"

Sorry, obviously I'm a novice here. Yes, I read through the archives before
posting (for over 30 minutes) but saw nothing that answers this basic
question clearly to me.
I want to connect to a node on a remote LAN behind a firewall, from my
machine behind a firewall. So, my understanding is that my browser should be
Http://x.x.x.x:59xx <Http://x.x.x.x:59xx> .
Where the post 59 characters are the 'display number" of the remote LAN node
in question. Ok, how is the 'display number' determined. What is meant, in
street language, by "display number'. Can you provide an example?
