Connecting to server via LAN

I need some information connecting to a VNC server, which is connected
to the intenet via Direcway satellite internet.  The internet connection
is brought directly to a router, then to the desktop.  The IP address I
get when installing win VNC is 192.168.1.104.  I think this is the LAN
address from the router?  I've read many postings regarding forwarding
the ports, but I don't know where/how to do this.

How do I find out the IP address coming in to the router?

How do I forward the port to the desktop PC so it can be accessed?
