F8 does nothing in 4.0b

I've been using 3.3.7 for a while to work remotely from my Mandrake 8.2
box at home on my Win2k workstatin at my office with no problems.
Worked so well and was so stable I thought I'd try out the 4.0 version.
And, yeah, 4.0 is a nice improvement over 3.3.7. I just used the .exe
for the Windoze box and the RedHat rpm for the Linux box and I had no
installation problems with either machine. And 4.0 runs great - with
one exception...
Now a F8 in the viewer on the Linux box has no effect. No error
messages, just nothing happens - no menu. Anyone have any idea what's
up? Not a big deal, I can just close the window and vnc exits without
leaving behind any running process or anything and I can reconnect to
the Win2k box ok, but it's a curious thing...
