would that make the SSH server die - not having the keepalive option set? if i were at home and tried to SSH (using putty or psftp) i would get the same errors from another computer on my home LAN. if i went into services and tried to stop/start openssh, i would get some error. if i rebooted the machine all would be well...for a while. the server and the DSL router are both up though, b/c i can still get to the webserver using a browser. just can't SSH until the system is rebooted. i don't like this unstability of openssh...
