Marlin,
Please don't send messages directly to the list members. Send your
messages to the list so that everyone can share the information.
In order to transfer files with TightVNC you need the beta or
development version (I think the latest version is 1.3.5) installed on
both systems. On the viewer there is a button on the menu bar for file
transfer. When you push the button a new window opens that displays the
drives on each system. Its usage is quite obvious.

I have Tight VNC, but exactly what steps do you use to transfer a file.
I can not simply copy and past or drag from server to client to
accomplish this. Do I need to designate a shared folder on the server
and direct all transfers there ?

There are at least two Windows versions of VNC which will transfer
files. UltraVNC at ultravnc.sourceforge.net and TightVNC at
www.tightvnc.com are the ones I've tried. They are both in beta.

I'm a new user of VNC and I didn't realize it can't be used for file
transfers. I've searched the archives of the mailing list but haven't
found any detailed solutions. I'm not very advanced when it comes to
networking and such. Can anyone let me know an easy way of
transferring
files between computers and give me some tips on how to do it? Thanks
very much.
Annie
