VNC Viewr problems with Adderlink IP Communications

Hi,
I am controlling a host PC(Windows 2000) remotely across a LAN from a Sony
Laptop(Windows XP) using an Adderlink IP communications box attached to the
host
. This box has a VNC server embedded into it and the remote machine(laptop)
uses a VNC Viewer.Most of the time this works OK but if the remote machine is
left inactive the link is broken and the Adderlink box will not allopw the
link to be re-made without being switched off and on again. The error message
produced by the VNC Viewer is :-
VNC Viewer Error
Read:Connection Reset by Peer (10054)

Does anyone know what the message means and what to do about it.
