Error forbidden when passing through proxy server

Heya. It sounds like you're well-protected behind a good
proxy at work. Sorry. :)
Proxies can be configured to allow only certain applications
to pass through them, by filtering based on the "user-agent string"
that an application tells to the proxy. That is, your SSH client
actually tells the proxy "I'm a putty SSH client", and your proxy
is refusing to proxy its data.
If you were feeling adventurous, you could try modifying
the source code of your SSH client so that it told the proxy that
it was, say, Internet Explorer instead. Or, easier, ask your IT guys
at work to add your SSH client to the list of "allowable" applications.
