RealVNC 4.04b, Remoting :0 and OpenGL
Thu Nov 13 21:52:01 2003
I've installed RealVNC 4.04 beta on a redhat 7.3 i86 system, and enabled
the vnc module for XF86.
The good news is that it works great. I especially like the
auto-negotiation feature based on bandwidth.
I'm having trouble with seeing openGL windows updating, however. OpenGL
applications work fine. All appropriate extensions are running on both
ends. When the initial VNC window draws, openGL windows look correct.
However, the VNC client is not picking up on any updates in those openGL
windows after it connects. If the openGL window updates on the local
desktop, I don't see the update take effect on the remote vnc client
display, no matter how long I wait. In order to get the VNC client
display to update, I have to do something silly like grab the window and
move it a little, which forces it to redraw. When I do that the window
redraws with the correct display, but I have to keep doing this and it's
not going to work out long term.
I'm using the NVidia GLX drivers on both the local and VNC viewer end.
Anyone see this problem before, and/or have a workaround?
Even a hack where the openGL window is polled for changes would be
Thanks in advance
