How to get the GNOME desktop in my VNC viewer

Hi,

I installed VNC (default parameters) on a Redhat Linux 7.3
running GNOME desktop. When I access the server from a
vncviewer from a Windows 2000 PC, I get a grey screen with a
rudimentary terminal window on it. 
Previously, I had done exactly the same thing on another
Linux server, but when I access that server, I can see the
GNOME desktop in my vncviewer. What do I need to do to get
the same result from my new server?
