The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted to linux.redhat.misc as well.
I am now runing tightvnc-1.2.7 under RH8.0/Kernel 2.4.20 with gnome as
my default window manager.
I would like to set up vnc so that it runs the default console (:0)
gnome/X-session, including the login prompt. Then, I could work from
the console and then continue that same session remotely from another
computer. I would also be able to log in and out multiple times to the
same underlying vncserver session.
What would I have to do to get RedHat to startup vnc first on :0?
How do I get it to launch into a login window rather than directly
into a user session?
Any pointers or suggestions here?
