I understand the situation. You answered the first question, you are using
Gnome. Now please answer the second question and tell us what the VNC logs
Since you are getting a display and mouse cursor, VNC is working. Your
window manager is not. This is the case with 99% of the "problems" with
VNC. You are not an exception.
BTW - Please reply to the list. It makes it much easier on those of us with
