Port Change Causes VNC Lockup

Hello Everyone,
I am having a curious problem with VNC. Just to give some background, I
originally had VNC 3.3.3 (I think) installed on this computer and on others
on my LAN. I then migrated everything over to TightVNC 1.2.5 and have since
upgraded to TightVNC 1.2.8. But I finally decided to go back to 'plain' VNC
yesterday. So, I made the switch over on the other 3 PCs on my LAN with no
issues. 2 of the PCs listen on the default port and 1 other listens on
'91'. 1 PC is Win98, 1 is Win2K Pro, and 1 is 2K Adv Server.
The problem is with my laptop. I can install VNC without problems and can
listen on the default port with no problems. The problem is when I try to
switch the port to anything but 'auto'. At that point the GUI for the
properties just totally locks up. I have also tried altering the port via
the registry and when I do that, the service will start, but the service
helper does not respond, nor does the VNC server. Additionally, the service
will not shut down if I do that. To be on the safe side, I made sure all
traces of VNC and TightVNC were removed from the registry and the 'Program
Files' folder as well. But after a reinstall and a reboot, I still can't
change the port.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Brian
