vncserver on my gateway server

: I feel that win2k is the best OS for the desktop, and any other tasks you
: need to do, you can do via ssh. If it comes down to it, you can always run
: cygwin's X server, and get a GUI for whichever GUI-only linux app you need
: to use.
Compared to cygwin, VNC has
1) smaller install footprint (ie, can be installed
on a whim, or even run uninstalled in several modes)
2) ability to resume after a broken connection
or from another location
3) shared, heterogeneous access
As to the original question, why not simply access the vncserver
only via ssh? That way, you don't have to open any extra ports,
and your traffic will be encrypted.
