- you need to run the VNC server as a service
- make sure you set the password via "Show Default Settings" in the VNC menu
- Start, Program Files, VNC, Administration, Show Default Settings (this
sets the 'machine' versus the 'user' password; it's the 'machine' password
that is used if no user is logged on).

Subject: Connecting to a 2000 Pro machine when not logged in
Date: Mon, 29 Dec 2003 10:31:31 -0600
Hello everyone, I apologize if this question has been asked before but I
couldn't find anything on it in the archives.
I have a standalone pc that is outside our network and has it's own external
ip address. It won't let me connect unless I'm actually logged in to that
machine already. By this I mean that it won't even find the machine when I'm
not logged in to it. I get the 'Failed To Connect To Server" message. I have
many other machines on our internal network that I can connect to from
either within the network or outside the network without being logged in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Paul Montgomery
