I saw already what you meant exactly, but the approach isn't quite the same. Let's take the analogy of opening a document in two ways:
1) Open the application. In "recently opened" list choose the file we want.
2) Open file manager and go deeper and deeper in the directories to find the file. Then open the file.
Both methods are complimentary to one another. None can replace the other.
