Sorry for all the trouble. My webmail here does not seem to bother
about Reply-To addresses, but replies to the sender. Yes, one or
another had been meant for the list. Like this; to the subject above:
Tracking it down further ...
I was asking myself what actually makes the difference of a
root-session and a user-session.
ps gave the answer: the default keyboard is sg (swiss-german) for good
reason, weil ich ndmlich manchmal Deutsch et aussi le Frangais ...
That works great for root. At times, however, this keyboard is not
available and therefore I run that gnome-applet for switching the
keyboard. As user, since I usually don't log on as root.
Whichever language I switch it to, it messes up the layout *of the
remote* machine. Even if it is switched correctly to the sg-keyboard of
my remote machine.
Switching to 'us' or 'de' produce similar, very wrong, results.
I have to kill the gkb-xmmap and restart the session and then it works.
Of course with a sg-keyboard only.
The one million dollar question arises: since the applet works well on
the local machine, would I file the bug against gnome or vncserver ??
(to me it looks like vncserver, here).
