VNC over VPN and XP

Have had VNC up and running on a VPN configuration utilizing
Windows2000pro as the client and Win98 as the server. We were working
great. Unfortunately, a system failure required the replacement of the
server machine and consequently the use of XP(home). After installation
and configuration of the XP machine as a VNC server, we are unable to
connect to it. The fast logon and firewall have been disabled in the XP
machine. The VPN is stable and the server machine is visible via the
local workgroup however, when the IP for the server is entered the
client times out.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
