I'm not fully sure about this, since I haven't tried, but Ultravnc uses a special screen driver for vnc (which is also available seperatly). I think this may slolve your problem, but, again, I can't say for sure.

This would require you to update the vnc-server to ultravnc. It probably wouldn't hurt to update the client to the uvnc client as well, but I don't think it is required.
