Please Help

I currently have windows XP home edition.  On my home network, I have my
main computer that my cable modem comes into and then I have two other
computers hooked to a router.  I have been able to successfully log on
to my other computers from inside my network with vcn, however, If I try
to access them from outside the network, it will not let me.  Can
someone please help me.  I don't understand the technology enough to
figure it out through the faq screens.
