NTL Set Top Box & Router

Not really - a client application on a PC handles that. I've found the
dns2go software handles this a bit more easily than some others I've tried -
it picks up the IP address of the router (which is the relevant one, unless
NTL are doing something strange) and updates the dns2go servers when it
changes.

The dynamic hostname services such as dyndns.org work well for this
situation, with one caveat: your router/set-top box must have the
capability to send notification to the service when its IP address
changes.
