Installation over previous version

We have several computers on our network that currently have version
3.3.3 installed on them that we would like to upgrade to 3.3.4.  Is it
necessary to uninstall 3.3.3 before installing 3.3.4?  If so is there a
way to script this so that the end user does not have to get involved in
either the uninstall or installation process?
