connection problems

I am trying to connect to a computer that uses a modem for internet 
access and a nic card for internal network access. the computer uses 
windows 98se. For the IP address it displays both an external address 
and an internal address together but seperated by a comma. When I try 
to connect with the external address it fails to connect. When i try 
to use both the external and internal address it comes up with an 
error asking if i typed the info in correctly. does any one have any 
ideas around this?

I've even when to the extent of using VNC, TightVNC & HotCat/CoolCat
