I am a newbie to VNC and this list, but I really like what I see
with VNC so far. There are just a few issues to date.
I am running Solaris CDE (dtwm) with vncserver on Solaris 2.7
over VPN/Cable modem and viewing on a PC running WinME. Initially,
the PC vncviewer session runs file (with the exception of font
issues described in other posts), and I can see my full CDE desktop.
However, after a few days, I can no longer get to the Sun desktop. I
do get the password prompt on my PC and VNCVIEWER seems to connect, but
I just get what I call the VNC "grey screen of death" with a floating
When I log into the Solaris machine, I see the vncsever process is
still running, and there is nothing strange (to me) in the log file.
If the vncserver is killed and restarted on the remote Sun,
everything works fine again.
Any ideas about what might be going on here? Any tips are appreciated.
