This fixed it. I had used the host file a few months ago trying to resolve a
similar issue. These computers seem to remember better than I do. Thanks for
the help, but I should have been able to get this one.

How are you assigning IP addresses and resolving names? It sounds like you
might be using DHCP for IPs and the numbers got assigned a little different.
If you also use the hosts files or fixed DNS that would make the names
resolve wrong as you describe. For example PC3 used to be 192.168.100.100,
but after the reboots 192.168.100.100 got picked up by PC3.
