problem connection W98 viewer to W2K server

I installed the VNC server on a W2K Pro workstation. The service 
starts without any problem. I can take over this machine from 
another W2K pc. So everything seems ok, but I can't take over any 
W2K-pc from a W98-pc.
I can however take over WindowsNT machines.
When I try to connect, for a brief moment it gives the "Please wait 
..." screen and then goes black showing only the little square 
cursor.
I do think the connection is there, but I just don't see what is 
happening.
Is there a difference in taking over NT or W2K machines, or should 
I do something different on either side of the connection ?
