Display problem (I think) with VNC Please help!!!

I know this list is not for TightVNC but because they are similar and 
because I am desperate I hope someone here can help me.  I am having 
problems with DrakConf with TightVNC 1.2.3 This is the setup the linux 
machine is running Mandrake 8.2 with KDE 2.2.2.  I am trying to control this 
machine from my winxp machine.  I can connect to the linux machine no 
problem.  However, when I try to run DrakConf which requires me changing to 
root to run it doesn't seem to start.  I get NO error messages in the 
console.  I REALLY need to get this going because this is the main 
configuration program for Mandrake.  Keep in mind I am a linux newbie.  I 
hope someone can help I have been looking for a solution to this for well 
over a month.
