WinVNC won't work for me

I am not sure how Windows does the port number for the server, but in
the *nix vncserver, the first available port it 5801. Although this
does not sound like your problem anyway.
A "no route to host" error usually would reflect that the client
doesn't know how to get to the IP of the server. Do you have a default
gateway defined?, and is it the right one to get to the network where
your server is sitting?
