Hence you get the webpage served from the vncserver webserver.

The java applet also runs ok. So far so good.

That's because the java applet is just a java implementation of the
vncviewer application. It communicates on port 5900. For details, see the
html source of the page.

You have opened port 5800, you should also open the same route for port 5900
as that is the one realy used.
For debugging (and better performance?) use the vncviewer application. This
only uses port 5900 so you can close the route for port 5800.
Note: since the 5800 route works, have it updated to port 5900.
