VNC on RH Linux stops local programs

Your answer to run as someone else is a question I have asked prior to this
one. I am waiting to see how I can do that.

I suppose I could change the file in .vnc to run the gnome desktop instead
of the KDE, so I have kde locally and gnome remotely. Can you tell me what
the syntax for that is? (I am linux newbie).
