core dump on Digital unix 4.0F

The dump is at /
I compiled the source of version 3.3.3r2
I am using vnc as an inetd record with Xvnc .
The dump "seemingly" occures when I start an X session. I can see the
window start and I think that my X session is proceeding to the next
phase - getty or some dt process (perhaps dtgreet).
 
Note that vnc works on my other servers which are all together, one big
true64 family on a single subnet, same OS version.
 
How do I approach this dump ?
