Fonts Problems

Hi their, i am curious to know, if anyone knows why my VNC doesnt'd display some fonts, i get blocks instead of text, an example is AIM the AOL release, i can see the persons screen name and time stamp, but any message after is a bunch of blocks. this also occures with some themes i have for GTK. Is their a solution? Thanks for your time.
