TightVNC 1.2.2, is it beneficial?

Does that mean that you use plain VNC rather than TightVNC for fast 
connections?

Very interested by the answer. I plan to use TightVNC. I am just wondering 
if it is worth using both of them alternatively, depending on the situation.
