VNC freezing via Netgear Router and broadband

Thank you for the suggestions.

There is no screensaver on this PC and minimal power management.
I'm working on figuring out how to lower the MTU. The router interface 
management software doesn't say, and the vendor tech support page is 
*incoherent*

Oh cool, there's a firmware upgrade that adds MTU adjustment. I'll install 
this and check back Thursday after I've had a chance to test it out from work.
