I need to manage about 5 separate desktops for non-root users connecting to the
Unfortunately, if Xvnc is started by a non-root user strange things happen
with the colormap and/or color depth. The effect is that the palate contains
insufficient colours to display applications properly.
If they connect to a desktop presented by an instance of Xvnc started by root
then all is well.
The env is identical for all users and I have tried copying root's .Xresources,
xstartup, etc to the others' home dirs to no avail. I have retained the
default twm window manager for the time being, to 'keep it simple, stupid' but
could use kdm or gdm, if this proves helpful.
I have scoured the net, including the archives of this list and cannot find
anything directly relevant.
Any help gratefully received...
