Sorry for not snipping, but I wanted all of this visible...
You first said that you were using http://localhost:5801 to connect to the
SSH tunneled session, so a local VNC running on 5800 will not cause any
problems. Have you set the VNC Server to allow loopback connections? When
using SSH the connection looks like it comes from the SSH server, so if VNC
and the SSH server are the same machine it is a loopback connection.
You probably need to run the "Service Helper" app in order to control the
local VNC server on your Win98 machine.
