Have VNC skip the update if the server already replaced
that view.

On the Windows viewer, when you minimize the viewer windows it stops
updating till the viewer window is restored. I haven't confirmed this
behavior with *NIX viewers or the java web.
...
So minimize for 30 seconds, then restore (if you want to automate it, you
can do this with Autoit).

I'd just like to support that suggestion being added to the "It would be
nice if" -list.
A variation might be a "Suspend refresh" auto-decrementing counter.
e.g. I type in a password to a remote application that I know is going to do
several re-writes of screens
... and it may go to a break dialog or work OK - but I'm prepared to give it
30 seconds to sort itself out
and then I resume "live" transmission.
BEFORE I hit Enter, I set up the 30-seconds auto-decrement counter (the
inverse of "turn off when I'm asleep" function on clock-radio).
...thinking about it, maybe even combine this with "enter" so enter is sent
as soon as the countdown starts.
As for the implementation,
the vncserver presumably would be sent the coundown-from value and the
client can do its countdown
in parallel without synchronisation with the server if visual feed back is
to be supplied.
cheers, Mark
