ftp and VNC

Hello folks,

I have here two Win98 machines connected via a dial in connection and 
VNC is working fine. So far everything is ok. But how am I able to drop 
a file from the remote machine on my local one?? VNC seems not to 
support this feature. 

I tried to ftp a file but there is a problem ...

ftp
ftp>open BRITTA 5900
RFB 003.003
user (BRITTA:(none)):
<<what ever I enter here leads to a diconnect>>

Does anyone has a hint for me where the catch is ? In case that this is 
OT please drop me quick note where I can find more information to my 
private mail.
