WinVNC and vncwiever (on NetBSD): Closed connection

I am running WinVNC on Win2K (3.3.3 R9).  The client is version 3.3.3r1, on
NetBSD.  When I connect the window opens, I get a glimpse of my desktop; the
colours seem to be right, and the size seems to be OK.  If I stop the viewer
(by sending it SUSP at the right moment) I can see that the desktop has been
drawn perfectly.

However, the window closes after a split second.  Below is logging from the
client, and then on thw WinVNC side.  Any assistance is very welcome.
