What needs is PAM (pluggable authentication module) support, then
VNC (on linux, at least - I'm sure other *nixen also support PAM)
could use any of the PAM authentication modules, like /etc/passwd,
shadow passwords, LDAP, NT domain, securid, RADIUS, Kerberos,
Netware, and lots more.
Should be fairly easy (said he, with no intention of doing it).
Maybe I could cough up some funding if somebody would care to
volunteer. I'd need some assurance that it'd make its way into
the main branch (given the code's good & clean, natch).
