Full Screen mode in unix

This is a known bug. Do not startup in fullscreen in
linux. Once in then you can F8 to make it fullscreen
but understand that if you use key bindings within
your local desktop it will pull your keyboard from vnc
and you will not be able to F8 out (just like your
current issue). The only way out is through a bit of
trickery....
If you are running KDE, you can alt + F2 (default key
binding for run) and type
killall vncviewer
then hit return and it will kill it.
The simplest way to kill it though is to run vncviewer
from xterm (or equivalent) and when you discover that
your keyboard is no longer within vnc, you can then
just type
ctrl + d
and that should end your terminal session and
therefore kill vncviewer
