tightVNC: What is best configuration (Zlib, JPEG, 8bit) for low b andwidth ?

The latest TightVNC version includes installer which makes two
shortcuts for launching vncviewer from the Start menu, one tuned for
fast networks (standard Hextile encoding), and another for
low-bandwidth connections (Tight encoding at highest compression level
and JPEG at lowest image quality).

Tight encoding should be even better than Zlib.

Correct. JPEG compression does not make much sense for 8-bit BGR233
colors, and therefore is not used in that mode.
