Tuning Performance checkboxes ?

whenever this type of question comes up, the answer is usually "it depends".
It depends on: speed of the server machine, how graphically complex the
application/desktop you're trying to view on the server is, the colour
depths of the 2 machines (seems to work better if they're set the same), the
speed of your connection between the 2 machines, what encoding you're using
(hextile, tight, etc), the cycle of the moon... (OK, just kidding about that
last one).

Bottom line, you'll probably have to experiment for your specific conditions
to see what works best for you.

Thanks,
Glenn

Subject: Tuning Performance checkboxes ?

Hi,

I am searching for tuning the checkbox for windows 98 client with winvnc
server installed.
So what is the best tuning for performance about those check boxes in
"Update Handling" zone ?
Poll Full Screen Poll Console Windows Only
Poll Foreground Window Poll On Event Received Only
Poll Windows Under Cursor

And what are the best associations for those checkboxes ?

It seems the "poll full screen" is really bad for performance and "poll
console windows only" is no good but what is your experience about that ?

Thanks,

JP
