I have setup some thin clients using old p133 machines
and installed a slim version of Mandrake 8.1. I
curiously got xfce to properly start vnc in fullscreen
mode. In all other attempts I had the problem where it
would lose keyboard immediately if I started in full
screen mode (I could still F8 into full screen without
immediate problems). Once in fullscreen I started
using lots of different standard keystrokes (such as
ctrl + esc, Ctrl +1, etc). On the short test I did
with it... the keyboard seemed to stay in vnc. I
confirmed this finding on a 2nd 8.1 install.
You might give xfce a try and see if it works for you.
