This is somthing to du in your xstartup script, remove first xtermline.
add insted...
If you run gnome:
 gnome-session &
If you run kde:
 kdestart &

Is there any way of making a Linux VNC server emulate the X desktop when it 
starts up instead of starting with a xterm window?
