Once and for all.. How to change "Add client" port 5500.

It has been asked many times on this list and most responses are "recompile
it". Now a lot of us aren't programmers and have no clue!

Can anyone post a modified version that lets you adjust the listening demon
port or instructions on how to recompile for a novice?
I particular would like to push to port 21  -and no I have no ftp server
running.
