kdm in -inetd mode

On my SuSE 7.3 system, xdm isn't setup, but kdm is.
Therefore, using -inetd mode to start VNC sessions isn't very successful. Is
there any configuration file to change to make it use kdm rather than xdm? Or
is this hard coded into the sources?
Many thanks,
