I tried that once, too.  twm sort-of ran, but I was trying to launch a
pre-built version of vncviewer for Cygwin that made cygwin/xfree blow up
completely.  I *could* run a real purty rxvt, though ;)

A friend of mine once built XFree86 under Cygwin on Windows.  It might
not be the easiest route though..
