Compression -- while we're on the subject ...

Hi --

I'm using VNC through SSH over a high-speed internet link, with SSH providing
compression. I'm getting reasonably good performance most of the time, but at
times the speed leaves something to be desired; and the mouse latency is always
annoying (I concur with the suggestion of providing an option to suppress the
server-side mouse, and just using a viewer-side mouse, because I'm always
overshooting my click targets at first).

Anyway, these discussions on compression started me wondering -- would I gain
*more* performance by incorporating compression -- like zlib -- into my VNC, on top
of the compression I'm getting with SSH? Or would this be a waste of my time?

Thanks.
