VNCScan does list computers that are not running at the time. If you
scan a range, then save it to a scan name, you can create a new one for
another scan, and switch between them. This not only lists the computers in
the previous scan regardless if they are currently running, but also allows
you to separate your scans by location, function, subnet, ect. The new
version coming out has a ton more to it than even the current version does!
VNCScan also exports to html and has an automatic scanning feature that
keeps the page up to date so that you can share the scan across platforms
via web browser. There are some cool improvements coming in that area,
also.
As for listing computers that are not running VNC, I've never seen a
benefit of that, but if it is something that people will use, it will find
it's way into VNCScan. It seems that would just clutter up the list of
computers that matter. There are plenty of tools to get the list of
computers running on your network. Most network administrators already have
one. If you compare the list that it creates to the one that VNCScan
creates, you can tell what ones are not running VNC. If someone wants this
list, though, I can make it dump the rejected computers that VNC was not
found on into a separate list or scan name. Let me know.

Hello,
For the past six months, I have been working on a project that searches for
computers running VNC. But that is not all it does. Unlike Steve
Bostedor's VNCScan, this program also lists computers not running. This
will be useful for network administrators who have large networks. It lets
them know which computers are running VNC and which are not. Don't get me
wrong, VNCScan is a great program. But there might be a need for
administrators to know which computers are not running VNC.
The name (VNConnect) and interface of the program is similar to that of
Alastair Burr's VNConnector. The name of my program has been OK'ed by
Alastair. You have the choice of using the vncviewer or your default web
browser to connect to a client. You can use this program on Windows 9x,
Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000. I should mention that I have not tested
this program on a Windows 95 machine.
VNConnect has been tested on Windows 98/NT/2000 running on a network mix of
Novell Netware and Windows NT
If you are interested in testing VNConnect, please send me an email at
rgalaz "at" uswest.net with the subject [BETA TEST].
For you VB and/or C++ programmers. I am in need of some help in putting
the finishing touches and improving some of the features in VNConnect. If
you have the time or if you want practice your programming skills, please
send an email message to the above address with subject [VNConnect DEV].
Thank you for you time.
